Carlos Correa Backs Out Of Giants Deal & Signs With The Mets

Free agent shortstop Carlos Correa will not be signing with the San Francisco Giants.

Hours after the Giants postponed Correa's introductory news conference on Tuesday, the New York Mets swooped in and reportedly offered Correa a 12-year, $315 million deal to play third base, and he accepted.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Correa's team disagreed with the Giants regarding a medical issue.

Correa’s new contract with New York is one year shorter and worth slightly less in average annual value ($26.25MM with the Mets compared to $26.92MM with the Giants). It is also now the 10th-largest contract in baseball history in terms of total value.
