Dave Roberts On His Decision For Austin Barnes To Pinch-Hit For Bellinger

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn't get out to a 2-0 lead against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. San Diego defeated the Dodgers 5-3 in what is the franchise’s first-ever win over Los Angeles in the postseason.

It was a back-and-forth battle early and then the game slowly started to slip away from the Dodgers. Later in the game, Josh Hader came out for San Diego to close out the game for the Padres. That's when Dave Roberts made a change.

Cody Bellinger’s spot in the lineup came up, and with the lefty killer Hader on the mound, L.A. manager Dave Roberts chose to pinch-hit for Bellinger.

Dave Roberts: "Hader's tough on anyone but I felt that Austin's short swing, flat path ... Hader throws the 4-seam rise fastball, CT swings uphill, and Austin's had success against Hader."

Game 3 and Game 4 will be played on Friday and Saturday. Tony Gonsolin & Tyler Anderson will take the mound this weekend.
