Dave Roberts Shares Why Matt Beaty Isn't Starting More Games

It has been a very up and down season for Matt Beaty in 2021 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Matt Beaty spent the last couple weeks in the minors and was called up about a week ago with the team. Lots of Dodgers fans have been wondering why Matt Beaty hasn't been starting more games as of late. Dave Roberts revealed why he hasn't been on the field as much as we thought he would be.

“I like Matt Beaty on the bench… I don’t see him as a defender, I see him as a really – taking a great at bat against a right hander.”

Beaty is batting .259 this season, with a .357 on base percentage. He’s been adjusting to his role as a bench batter, which is likely where he’ll stay at least for the rest of this season and the playoffs.
