The Braves and Cubs have swung a notable trade, as outfielder Joc Pederson on his way to Atlanta. First base prospect Bryce Ball goes to Chicago. But could Joc be traded again?
Insider Ken Rosenthal suggests that if the Braves are still struggling at the deadline, Joc could be moved once again. Here is what he said:
Also, with 15 days until the deadline, the Braves could flip Pederson if he gets hot, their position worsens and another team sees him as a fit. Current playoff odds for ATL, per Fangraphs: 6.3 percent to win division, 7.5 percent to reach postseason.
For now, Pederson addresses a clear need in the outfield for Atlanta after superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. was lost for the season due to a torn ACL. Pederson has a lot of center field experience over his career, though it is probably more likely that he’ll be deployed mostly as a corner outfielder for the Braves.
