Ken Griffey Jr. Set To Release Sneakers In Honor Of Jackie Robinson

What a way to pay tribute to the late and great Jackie Robinson.

One of the best players of all time Ken Griffey Jr is set to debut Air Griffey Max 1 the is a stealthy black-based colorway that honors the legacy of the baseball great which Jackie Robinson. One cool feature on the shoe is that Jackie's famous quote that reads, “There’s not an American in this country free until every one of us is free,” is on the ankle strap. Additionally, Griffey Jr.’s #24 uniform number now replaced with Robinson’s #42 on both the ankle and the footbed. Check out a closer look of the shoes.

There’s currently no official sneaker release date for this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 but the pair could arrive around Jackie Robinson Day which is observed on April 15. 

If you remember, Ken Griffey Jr was actually the player that had the idea that on April 15, every player in the MLB should wear the No. 42 in honor of the great Jackie Robinson. Griffey's admiration of Robinson and what he stood for as a baseball and civil rights icon began in his early life and continues today.
