Pau Gasol Sends The Bryant Family A Gift On Gianna's Birthday

Paul Gasol became very close with Kobe Bryant during their time together with the Lakers that resulted in two championships in 2009 and 2010.

Recently, Gasol performed an incredible gesture in honor of Gigi Bryant the daughter of Kobe who also passed during that tragic helicopter last January. He decided to send a cake to the Bryant family to honor what would have been Gigi’s 14th birthday on Friday.

There’s no doubt that Gasol was left heartbroken by the untimely passing of Bryant and his daughter in January, and this small gesture from his end is his way of commemorating the lives that were lost during that fateful day.

Gasol joined Kobe in L.A. in 2008, and upon his arrival, it was clear that he was the missing piece in the Lakers puzzle. The team went all the way to the Finals that same season but fell to the Boston Celtics in a heartbreaking six-game series. Pau, Kobe and the rest of the Lakers went on to avenge their Finals defeat soon after, as they won back-to-back titles over the next two seasons. The cherry on top of the cake was that their second title came at the expense of the Celtics.

Gasol and Kobe parted ways in 2014, when the former signed with the Bulls as a free agent. Despite the separation though, they remained true friends and brothers off the court.
