The Los Angeles Dodgers could be looking to make a big splash this free agency period.
According to Jon Paul Morosi of MLB.com, the Dodgers are "expected to pursue a trade" for the Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor.
Lindor has been an All-Star in every season and finished in the top 10 of MVP voting in each of the last three years. He this season with a .284 batting average, 32 home runs, 40 doubles and 22 stolen bases. As of right now, the Indians appear unlikely to reward him with a new deal before he hits free agency after the 2021 season.
After the 2021 season, the Dodgers only have two players that are under contract which is A.J. Pollock and Kenta Maeda. Adding Lindor to a 106 win Dodger team not only will allow the Dodgers to compete now, but for years to come. Considering Lindor is one of the top players in the game, he would not come at a cheap cost and will likely take multiple prospects to get a deal done.
The offseason is just beginning! Buckle up folks.
