Rich Paul Issues A Warning To The Celtics About Trading For Anthony Davis

The Boston Celtics look to have assets needed to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, but doing so would be very risky.

In an interview with S.L. Price of Sports Illustrated, Davis' agent, Rich Paul, said that Davis will not sign an extension with the Boston Celtics if the Celtics do in fact acquire him this offseason.

"They can trade for him, but it'll be for one year. I mean: If the Celtics traded for Anthony Davis, we would go there and we would abide by our contractual [obligations] and we would go into free agency in 2020. I've stated that to them. But in the event that he decides to walk away and you give away assets? Don't blame Rich Paul."

Anthony Davis has made it clear that he wants out of New Orleans and new executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin says he's "open-minded" about a potential deal involving the six-time All-Star. Davis and his camp this week say that he will only sing a long-term extension with the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks.
