Kobe Bryant had the opportunity to thank the fan who recovered his stolen Lower Merion High School jersey in person while he was on his trip to China.
If you remember, Liu Zhe, purchased a Lower Merion High School jersey from an online seller in October 2018, but then realized it was the same one that had been stolen from a display case at Lower Merion two years before the purchase was made. Once he realized it, he sent it back to Pennsylvania where it belongs.
When Kobe went to China for the 2019 FIBA World Cup draw, one of Bryant's associates reached out to Liu to set up a meeting according to Dave McMenamin.
Liu talked about what Kobe Bryant said to him about returning his jersey:
"I asked Kobe, 'Do you remember me?'" Liu said. "He told me, 'Yes, thank you for returning the jersey. You did a great thing.'"
