Anthony Davis Requests A Trade, Will Not Sign Extension

All-Star forward/center Anthony Davis has informed the New Orleans Pelicans that he has no intention of signing an extension and wants to be traded. Agent Rich Paul told Adrian Wojnarowski, about the timing of Davis’ decision to be traded.

“Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that's the reason for informing them of this decision now," Paul said. "That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future."

The first team to come up to acquire Davis is the Los Angeles Lakers.

“This is an opportunity for the Los Angeles Lakers to be aggressive in offering a package for Davis prior to Boston’s inclusion into talks. Paul also represents Lakers star Lebron James, and the Lakers have been determined to acquire Davis in a deal, league sources said. “

Davis is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2020. That gives whatever team is able to trade for him at least a year to convince him to re-sign.
