After Kliff Kingsbury signed on to become the offensive coordinator for USC, he quickly changed gears today and signed a four year deal to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
When USC coach Clay Helton heard about the news, he quickly congratulated him on a great opportunity.
"I am happy for Kliff. Any time you get an opportunity to be an NFL head coach, it is special. He is a talented coach, that's why we brought him here. I wish him nothing but the best."
Before meeting with the New York Jets and the Cardinals, it was reported that the Trojans were blocking NFL teams from interviewing Kingsbury. Kingsbury signed his deal with USC a couple weeks before all the coaching vacancies.
Kingsbury reportedly owes USC a $150,000 buyout in order to resign and take the Cardinals' head coaching job, according to NFL's Ian Rapoport.
