Long time NBA player Dikembe Mutombo flew an 8-year-old boy from Africa with a large tumor on his face so that he can be operated on by American doctors.
Dikembe caught up with TMZ to talk to Mutombo about how he heard about the boy and his story behind this.
"I was touched by what he's going through as a young boy who's 8 years old. Not going to school. The way he's been pushed away by the society. His mom has to keep him in the bedroom every day because people are talking bad about him."
Mutombo met Matadi in Congo. Mutombo's own foundation built a hospital in his home country, which has served more than half a million women and children. In Congo, there were no specialists who could take on the tumor unless he came out to America.
