Jon Gruden: Players Are "Dying To Play For The Raiders"

Jon Gurden signed a $100 million dollar contract to become the head coach of the Oakland Raiders once again this past offseason. After starting 1-6 and trading pass rusher Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper for an abundance of draft picks, this wasn't the start many Raiders fans were hoping for.

In an interview with FOX's Howie Long, Jon Gruden expressed that so many people would be dying to come to play with the Raiders.

"I got a cell phone just like you and everybody else, and I get a lot of phone calls from people who are dying to come and play here," said Gruden. "To have salary cap space, and to have a chance to talk to the people that you really want to wear the silver and black ... that's exciting."

The Oakland Raiders as it stands are projected to have 75.2 million in cap space in 2019 which mean he team will have opportunities to be very active during free agency. After the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trade, the Raiders acquired first round picks which puts their total at 3 next year in the 2019 NFL draft.

The Raiders will take on the San Francisco 49ers tonight on Thursday Night Football In the Battle of the Bay.
