According to Shams Charania, the Clippers have traded forward Wesley Johnson to the New Orleans Pelicans. In exchange, the Clippers receive forward Alexis Ajinca
This comes just a couple days before the Clippers open get ready to open the regular season against the Denver Nuggets this Wednesday at Staples Center.
If you look at the big picture, the Clippers will save a little bit of money trading for Ajinca who's salary is set at $5.29M as opposed to Wes Johnson's $6.13M. They are currently on expiring contracts and the Clippers will save about $849K.
Alexis Ajinca has had knee issues the 2017-2018 season which didn't allow him to play much. For the Pelicans, acquiring Wes Johnson will bolster the team defensively going into the season.
