The Los Angeles Lakers have been forced to pivot after missing out on Paul George, and they appear to have turned their focus toward All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins.
The Lakers called Cousins after free agency opened late Saturday night, according to Marc Spears. George, whose name had long been linked to the Lakers, agreed to a four-year max deal to remain with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The immediate reaction is that the Lakers hurt their chances to land LeBron James by missing out on George. By adding Cousins, they could bolster their chances to sign the Cavs superstar.
The New Orleans Pelicans, who acquired Cousins via trade in February 2017, have also reportedly called the talented center.
