Turner Sports analyst, Greg Anthony, joins the Petros and Money show to talk about the Pelicans and Blazers series, the NBA playoffs and Kawhi Leonards situation.
The Pelicans have had a hot start in their opening series against the Blazers. Unforuntately the Pelicans bigman, DeMarcus Cousins, is not available for the playoffs but the team has been playing better without him. Heading forward, Anthony says this is going to be a big issue for the organization.
"It creates a serious dilemma for that front office. You really don't want to let a talent like DeMarcus Cousins go and not get anything for him. Thats the other concern that you have. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to get like a one and one deal what we saw with Kevin Durant last year when he signed with signed for two years but one year with a player option. That will give them some time to then try to reassess what direction they want to go. If they want to commit long term to him or if they want to try to maybe move him and get some other pieces that would allow them to get some championship caliber."
The future of Cousin will most likely be decided in the off-season. The Pelicans current focus right now is advancing to the second-round. While Anthony Davis has been great, the play of Jrue Holiday has been the X-factor in the series.
"The fact that he is now healthy and he is also playing the two-guard. He had been playing a lot point guard for them. This isn't a guy that has come out of nowhere. The players know how good he is. meaning his opponents and his team they value him. Thats why they gave him the contract they gave him. Now he is rewarding them. This is not a fluke. This guy is that good and he has a chance to be one of the very best two-way players in our league."
