The Los Angeles Chargers schedule for the 2018 season has been released by the NFL, with a marquee AFC West matchup set for Week 1.
The Chargers will open their season at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the division last season, but not without some pressure from the Chargers, who finished one game back after winning six of their final seven games.
Per Chargers.com:
“We’ve been wanting to get back on the field since the day after the Oakland game,” said Head Coach Anthony Lynn. “Missing out on that playoff tiebreaker left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, so schedule release day is pretty nice in that it helps us lock in on the job at hand for 2018. You know for months who you’re playing and where, but the when brings everything that much more into focus. Looking at the schedule, there’s no doubt we have our work cut out for us. But I’m excited about this team and know we’ll be up for the challenge.”
The Chargers' two showdowns with the AFC West rival Oakland Raiders will take place in Weeks 5 and 10. The first meeting is set for Oct. 7, while the game in Oakland will go down on Nov. 11. Both games are on the schedule for Sunday at 1:05PM PT.
The Chargers' schedule also includes a trip abroad, as the team travels to London for a Week 7 meeting with the Tennessee Titans. The game will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 21, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30AM local time.
