When Memphis fired men's basketball coach Tubby Smith last week, many speculated that Penny Hardaway would become the next coach. Many were right.
The former NBA star has been named the next head coach at the University of Memphis.
Hardaway was a star at Memphis in the early 1990s before being drafted by the Orlando Magic in 1993.
Hardaway isn't your typical former NBA player, as he has coached AAU basketball in the summer and also won his third consecutive state title as the head coach of Memphis East High this past weekend.
