Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops retires

Bob Stoops is retiring as the head coach of the Oklahoma football program, effective immediately. Offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley will become the Sooners' next head coach.

Stoops posted a 190-48 record throughout his career at Oklahoma, which began in 1999. Stoops experienced significant postseason success, winning the 2000 BCS National Championship and claiming 10 conference titles.
