The LA Clippers are reportedly closing in on a name for their new D-League team, and it appears that the moniker will reflect the team's longtime casino partner -- Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa.
According to a report from Marc Stein, the Clippers are working toward naming their new team the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario.
Dan Woike -- who covered the Clippers beat for the L.A. Daily News before moving on to a job covering the Chargers for the Los Angeles Times -- raises a notable point above, as the name would be a clear reference to the casino located in Rancho Mirage, CA.
While the league's stance on the gambling connection is unclear, though, it appears certain that the Clippers will secure a D-League team.
