UPDATE: D'Angelo Russell will not start at shooting guard on Wednesday, but will see action with the starting group.

D'Angelo Russell's tumultuous and brief tenure with the Lakers took another rough turn in the past week, with Jordan Clarkson taking the reins as the team's starting point guard. That said, the Lakers are not giving up on the 2015 No. 2 overall pick just yet.

Head coach Luke Walton is considering giving Russell the start at shooting guard on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets, a move that Fred Roggin and Rodney Peete agree might be the embattled guard's last hope to remain a part of the team's plans going forward.

Roggin claims that if Russell cannot get the job done — now that his floor general responsibilities have been removed — then it will be a telling sign regarding his ultimate worth to the organization. Peete points out, however, that maybe an altered role is just what Russell needs.
