Clippers fans can bid to sit next to Steve Ballmer

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 02: Owner Steve Ballmer of the Los Angeles Clippers celebrates after the Clippers defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game Seven of the Western Conference quarterfinals of the 2015 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center on May 2, 2015 in Los Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is working to promote Seat Bid, which will allow fans the opportunity to bid to sit next to him at Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks!

As Ballmer explained Monday to Bill Handel on KFI AM 640, Seat Bid will provide fans with plenty more opportunities than just this. The Clippers will set aside tickets for games and auction them off, in a venture that will help fill seats at a lesser cost for lower-profile matchups, while implementing a premium pricing system for marquee games.

"We're testing it out. We could make more, we could make less, but I like the arena full," Ballmer said. "I think these seats will fill against the top teams in the league and the bottom teams in the league, because people will be able to get what they want. We will make less money for the worst teams and more money for the better teams. We will be net-net, just fine, but it means we will be filling the seats against the weaker teams, and selling tickets at a premium for the better ones."
