Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was working out in South Florida in preparation for the 2022 season and in one of his final social media posts he was seen joking around with teammate Najee Harris.
Harris was drafted by the Steelers in the 2021 NFL Draft and Haskins served as one of the team’s backup quarterbacks. Early Saturday morning, Haskins died when he was struck by a dump truck while walking on the highway.
Harris hasn't spoken publicly about it but Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and the Steelers organization issued a statement on the devastating news as he shared how heartbroken they are over the shocking death of a beloved member of the organization.
“I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins,” Tomlin said in his statement. “He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community. Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many. I am truly heartbroken.”
Haskins was only 24 years old.
