The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded outfielder AJ Pollock to the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Craig Kimbrel, according to a report by Mark Feinsand on Friday.
With the 2022 MLB season is set to begin a week from today on April 7. The Dodgers had quite a logjam in the outfield with Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts, Chris Taylor, Pollock and Kevin Pillar. Now, it will likely be a combo on Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux and Kevin Pillar sharing left field.
The trade involves two high-profile and highly paid veterans. Pollock is earning $10MM this season and is owed at least a $5MM buyout on a $10MM player option for the 2023 season. Kimbrel, meanwhile, is slated to earn $16MM this coming season after the ChiSox picked up a 2022 club option following the trade that sent him from Chicago’s north side to the south side last summer.
The Dodgers bullpen is looking really strong heading into the 2022 season.
