The Dodgers are open to bringing back close Kenley Jansen this offseason, but they will not break the bank to keep the star closer.
He last signed a five-year, $80 million deal to stay with the Dodgers after the conclusion of the 2016 season. The Dodgers may have interest in re-signing Kenley for a second time but unlikely to pay a big premium according to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times:
The Dodgers are open to bringing back Jansen, but they’re unlikely to pay a premium for a 34-year-old closer with so many other holes to fill on the roster.
Jansen ranks 13th all times in saves with 350, all of which were recorded with the Dodgers, and he could easily jump into the Top 10 with another strong year in the ninth-inning role. That consistency should get plenty of non-Dodgers contenders interested in bringing him to town.
