It looks as if Dodgers fans won’t get the chance to travel down south to Petco Park to see Padres games.
Padres’ CEO Erik Greupner spoke withThe San Diego Union about having fans by Opening Day and smiled when asked if fans in Los Angeles would have the chance to buy tickets at Petco Park.
"For [Dodgers fans] to try to get a ticket, it's probably going to be a pretty significant premium. Maybe they enjoy staying in LA and watching the Dodgers play there." Padres CEO Erik Greupner on fluidity of allowing fans into Petco.
“We really, really want our season-ticket members to hold on to their tickets,” Padres Chief Executive Erik Greupner said, “because our hope is they’re going to want to be here, dressed in brown and gold, cheering for this team, and we can get 100% Padres fans in the ballpark for those games.”
“We’re going to be announcing … a special surprise for that weekend,” Greupner said, “for our season-ticket members that keep their tickets and come to the game. We’re going to have a number of really neat things for them that weekend.”
They expect to open the season at 20% capacity — close to 10,000 seats — under state coronavirus guidelines, so they do not even have enough tickets for all their season-ticket holders for now. The Dodgers are awaiting to see if they could allow more fans at the park ahead of the home opener.
