Baseball is official back.
On Sunday, Yankees fans were riled up and ready to boo a player during Sunday’s spring training exhibition against the Blue Jays.
Toronto’s Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was met with “cheater” chants in Tampa after the crowd mistakenly thought he was his brother Yuli, an infielder for the Houston Astros. Yuli was part of the 2017 championship Astros team that beat the Yankees in the ALCS.
Yankees fans have waited more than a year to call out those involved in the scandal that was uncovered in the fall of 2019, as they were not permitted at games last season due to the pandemic. In a highly anticipated series this 2021 season season, the Yankees are set to meet up with the Astros. If fans are in the stands at that time, expect it to get heated.
