Andrew Friedman Speaks Out On Andrew Toles: "It's Heartbreaking"

It's been a tough couple of years for one member of the Los Angeles Dodgers family. Andrew Toles, a former third-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays, reunited with Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman in 2015.

The 28-year-old has been arrested recently in Florida and is considered homeless. He has also been in and out of multiple mental health hospitals, often turning down his family’s efforts to get help.

A very distraught Friedman, who has known Toles for nearly a decade, wishes he could do more to assist with getting Toles back on his feet as he told Bob Nightengale of USA Today:

“It’s heartbreaking, literally heartbreaking,” says Andrew Friedman, Dodgers president of baseball operations, who drafted Toles while with the Rays, and visited with him at the facility. “I have a long history with Andrew, and I just wish there was something more we could do to help.”
