Even though the Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the World Series this past year to win the title, Brian Dozier decided to troll the Houston Astros with a trash can joke.
The Washington Nationals aired a Zoom group chat on Facebook Live where their players reunited to watch Game 7 of the World Series. The event was intended to raise money for prosforheroes.org, launched by Nationals veteran Ryan Zimmerman. The Nats beat the Astros 6-2 in Game 7 to win their first World Series in franchise history.
While rewatching the game, Dozier mocked Houston by banging a trash can. He also put the trash can over his head and started dancing around.
toOf course, the trash can referred to Houston's trash can banging to signal their batters on what pitch was coming at what moment. Houston was confirmed to have been cheating in the 2017 World Series when they beat the Dodgers by doing so and were punished by MLB for cheating and have been widely mocked ever since this all unfolded. The organization was fined $5 million and stripped of its first- and second-round picks for two seasons after Major League Baseball uncovered a culture of illegal sign stealing.
