Red Sox Lawyer Hints That Team Knows Results Of Sign Stealing Investigation

It looks like MLB has reportedly concluded its investigation into allegations that the Red Sox stole signs back in 2018.

According to The Athletic’s Daniel Kaplan, a lawyer representing the Red Sox did not admit to the team allegedly using video replay to steal opponents’ signs during the 2018 season. The denial came during an oral argument during a lawsuit brought by fantasy sports players over the sign-stealing scandal.

"We do not admit that," Lauren Moskowitz of Cravath, Swaine & Moore told the judge when he asked her, "Do you admit or not that the Red Sox violated the rules?"

Kaplan also reports on these remarks from Moskowitz during the proceedings:

"Your Honor, I think that there are distinctions between what the Red Sox believe occurred and what the commissioner found. And I think that certainly they're entitled to disagree that that activity happened at the club level. Certainly, we did find on certain occasions in 2017, that this electronic device was used to communicate sign information."

In saying "what the commissioner found" the Red Sox's attorney seems to suggest that MLB has already concluded its investigation into the matter.MLB has yet to announce its findings publicly.

The Red Sox are accused of using video technology during the 2018 regular season to capture the sign sequence used by their opponents. Players would then go into the replay room at Fenway Park to identify the signs and then relay them to teammates on the bases.
