Major League Baseball has handed down punishments to several people. But now, video and pictures have emerged on Twitter that caught the attention of many people.
A video shows after Jose Altuve hit a walk-off home run of New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman in Game 6, he notoriously begged his teammates not to tear off his jersey. Looking back at it now, it does appear suspicious.
A couple months ago according to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, Sherman says that he heard Astros players may have worn a buzzer device on their body to help relay signs. From Sherman:
In recent days I have had scouts and executives talk to me about a variety of methods they think have been or could be employed, such as a realistic-looking electronic bandage placed on a player's body that buzzes in real time to signal what is coming — one buzz for a fastball, for example — if the surveillance determines what type of pitching is coming. One person I spoke to has ties to the Astros and said he already had spoken to MLB's investigators.
If proven true, it would clearly be one of the biggest scandals in baseball history. The Astros sign-stealing controversy has already resulted in their manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow and Red Sox manager Alex Cora to be fired, as well as Beltran to step down from his position before managing a single game with the Mets.
