Hitter Strikes Catcher With His Bat During A Baseball Game

Just absolute chaos.

During a winter league Venezuelan baseball game between the Aguilas del Zulia and Caribes de Anzoategui, a fight broke out on the field that began when a player started swinging his bat at the catcher and connecting a couple of times.

Former MLB outfielder Alex Romero was up to bat when a pitch that was nowhere near a strike absolutely set him off at that point. Romero reacted by taking his bat and swinging at the catcher, Gabriel Lino. After the incident occurred, several players rushed to the field and the scene quickly escalated. According to Yahoo Sports, six players got ejected during the game including Romero, Lino and Caribes' pitcher Angel Nesbett.

Romero is expected to receive further consequences after the ejection and a significant ban is not out of the question. He played for the Arizona Diamondbacks between 2008 and 2009.
