Mark Stein Says The Warriors Will Trade D'Angelo Russell

Shams Charania of The Athletic first reported that the Nets were sending D'Angelo Russell to the Warriors it would also include Treveon Graham and Shabazz Napier moving out West. Adrian Wojnarowski soon confirmed the deal is for four years and $117 million.

Today on the Dan Patrick Show, Mark Stein from The New York Times says that the Warriors will now turn around and trade D'Angelo Russell:

"D'Angelo Russell does not fit there whatsoever. They just did not want to see Kevin Durant walk out the door with no compensation. ... They will trade him. It's just a matter of when."

Russell, who was drafted by the Lakers with the second overall pick in 2015, averaged 21.1 points and 7.0 assists during the 2018-19 season. He might not be a Warrior for long despite those numbers. The franchise simply didn't want to see Durant leave without something in return.
