Dodgers announce today they have put catcher Russell Martin on the 10-Day IL with back inflammation and have recalled catcher Rocky Gale from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed catcher.
Martin, who returned to the Dodgers in a trade with Toronto this offseason, was 5-for-15 with a home run and two RBI in six games this season. The homer on April 5 was his first for the Dodgers since July 9, 2010. It should be noted that Martin was dealing with back soreness this spring training.
Gale, who enters his second season with the Dodger organization, has appeared in 17 major league games in his career including three with the Dodgers last year. He was 2-for-6 with a double and three runs scored this year with Oklahoma City.
