Dodgers Joe Kelly appeared at a Smart & Final yesterday in Burbank as part of the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour and explained why he picked the number #17.
When I showed up, do you guys have a jersey for me? This is the same number I had in college. This is the first time I had to pick my number, obviously a young guy in St. Louis and they gave me #58 and then when I went to Boston, obviously Paplebon was #58 before I said I can't wear that number that guy was too good. Now I get to pick my number.
Kelly is a native of Southern California and played his college baseball at UC Riverside.
