Turkish prosecutors are seeking an arrest warrant for New York Knicks player Enes Kanter, accusing him of membership in a terror organization.
The Associated Press had a report from the Turkish newspaper Sabah that prosecutors in the country have prepared an extradition request for Kanter, based on his ties to preacher Fethullah Gulen.
After the story came out, Enes Kanter responded on Twitter to the fact an arrest warrant is being sought out for him.
Turkish Government can NOT present any single piece of evidence of my wrongdoing. I don’t even have a parking ticket in the US (True). I have always been a law-abiding resident.
A little while ago, Kanter refused to travel to London with the team for a regular-season NBA game, saying he feared that he was going to be assassinated for his opposition to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
His Turkish passport was then revoked.
