Top Influential UCLA Boosters Reportedly Want Rick Pitino As Coach

Accoring to Adam Zagoria from Forbes Magazine, multiple "influential" UCLA boosters are targeting the Basketball Hall of Famer to take over as the UCLA coach.

On Monday, UCLA coach Steve Alford was fired a four-game losing streak which dropped the team's record to 7-6. The Bruins now (8-6) won their Pac-12 opener Thursday against Stanford, 92-70. Pitino hasn't coached in the country since being fired by Louisville in October 2017. Pitino was let go job after being implicated in a pay-for-play investigation conducted by the FBI that resulted in four assistant coaches at four different schools.

According to a source of Zagoria, billionaire UCLA alum Casey Wasserman loves Pitino to fill in the void as the head coach.

"They're going after Pitino, that's their No. 1 choice. Casey Wasserman is the most powerful person at UCLA."
