This week, we lost a very creative mind at a young age. SpongeBob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg at the age of 57 after a battle with ALS. The news hit fans of the television show which has been on the air for nearly 20 years and now they're coming together to petition the NFL to pay tribute to the show during the next Super Bowl.
On Change.org, a petition titled "Have 'Sweet Victory' performed at the Super Bowl" was started by Isreal Colunga, and more than 237,000 people have already signed it, with the number climbing each time you refresh the home button.
As some of you may or may not know, Stephen Hillenburg—the creator of SpongeBob Sqaurepants—has passed away recently.
As a tribute to his legacy, his contributions to a generation of children, and to truly showcase the greatness of this song, we call for Sweet Victory to be performed at the Halftime Show.
Unfortunately for Spongebob fans, the NFL has announced that earlier this year that Maroon 5 will be doing the halftime show in Atlanta for Super Bowl 53.
