It has now been announced that Yasmani Grandal will not accept the Dodgers qualifying offer and is set to become a free agent. The Dodgers now will have to look for a catcher for the short term to replace Grandal.
The catcher put together a solid season behind the plate hitting 24 home runs and although Grandal had a rough postseason, he was very good for the Dodgers during his time there. Grandal is one of the best power-hitting catchers as well. He hit .225 and that was considered the best among catchers this season.
He now will hit the open market where several teams will offer the catcher a muli-year deal.
