St. John Bosco Football Coach Jason Negro Talks Josh Rosen, DJ Uiagalelei

St. John Bosco Football Coach Jason Negro joined the guys this week to discuss his former QB, Josh Rosen, the NFL Draft and a current player in position to become another St. John Bosco great. Negro says that even though Rosen didn't live near Bosco, he wanted to join a competitive football team.

"I think Josh just had an opportunity to play and participate against some guys that were really talented and knew they were going to have a ton of skill here at Bosco that he was going to be able to throw to. And we were a relatively new staff when he came in. I got the job in 2010. So it's just a new exciting program up and coming and he wanted to be a part of it."

As the NFL Draft gets closer, the discussion about Josh Rosen and his character continue. However, Negro says that was never an issue when Rosen was in high school.

"You know, never once did I ever question whether Josh wanted to be a high level football player. As a matter of fact it was quite the opposite. A lot of his criticism has come from him asking questions and things like that and challenging coaches. I think that is completely erroneous to the type of person that he is. I looked at it as something that was really beneficial to our team because it made us a better program and better coaches. Those are some of the things that I think that people really don't understand. They are kind of criticizing him in the wrong way."

Negro also went on to discuss his current QB, DJ Uiagalelei, who has emerged as one of the top high school players in the country.

"We've been pretty blessed. People say that a guy like Josh Rosen is lightning in a bottle, and it only happens once. Three years later, all of a sudden we have this kid DJ that is a sophomore. He was the MaxPreps Sophomore Player of the Year for the entire country, so he's a pretty talented guy with a ton of upside. Probably a bit more physical than Josh in terms of stature, but very similar in terms of skill set and mental abilities, and his ability to be able to read defenses and make the throws he needs to make. He's ridiculous. For us to hit lightning twice is pretty remarkable."
