Colin Cowherd: “When you look at their schedule, Detroit may be the only team in this league I could talk myself into them winning 9 games or 4. They get a real break with their schedule. Seven games on their schedule they face a team with a fairly shaky quarterback situation where Jared Goff will get better protection and be a better quarterback than who they face. Washington, Seattle, Chicago, Jets, Giants, Carolina, Chicago… Those are young and mistake-prone quarterbacks like Carson Wentz. They’re going to have either a quarterback experience edge, home field edge, or consistency edge in nine games. Could they go 8-1 in those games? Absolutely. They were very competitive last year against good teams often, they just did have any depth and were terrible defensively. They didn’t have a pass rush, they were bad on the back end, and nobody gave up more late touchdowns it felt than Detroit. They are a very unique team in which you start looking at this schedule and if they stayed healthy with their offensive pieces you could see them winning 9 games. They were the most interesting ‘bad’ team in the league last year, and my guess is that they’re a 7-win team, but a friend of mine who gambles for a living thinks they’re going to beat Philadelphia in Week 1, and he thinks they could win 9 games and be a playoff team. A lot of people who do this for a living think the Lions could be the sleeper of the league. ” (Full Segment Above)
