Legendary Dodgers shortstop Maury Wills died on Monday evening. He was 89.
Wills spent 12 of his 14 Major League seasons from 1959 to 1972 with the Dodgers, compiling a lifetime .281 batting average in 1,942 games with 586 stolen bases. He averaged 63 stolen bases between 1960 and 1965 when leading the NL in six consecutive seasons. Wills was a member of Dodger championship teams in 1959, 1963 and 1965, along with an NL pennant winner in 1966.
