Former Boston Red Sox & Los Angeles Dodgers player Manny Ramirez’s time in the majors may have ended in 2011, but he’s not done playing baseball. Ramirez, now 47, told the Taiwan Times he’slooking to make a comebackin 2020.
A video has emerged of Manny Ramirez hitting and his agent sent out the video on Twitter:
Manny Ramirez updated of him Hitting yes he never lost his touch he still got it Opportunity is there for a come back for China Professional Baseball League he ready with Lord Powers Blessing
Ramirez has set his sights on returning to the Chinese Professional Baseball League, where he spent time in 2013. Ramirez performed well in a 49-game stint for the Rhinos, hitting .352 with eight home runs. He left the team because he missed his family, and because he wanted to try and return to Major League Baseball.
Ramirez said he’s been itching to get back into the batter’s box. He even offered to return as a player-coach.
My goal for 2020 is to find a roster spot in the CPBL.
I have been itching to get back in the batter's box and be able to compete again. I also miss being around teammates and team dinners post-game.
I know if I was given the opportunity to come in an organization as a player-coach, it would do great things for the organization and the league.
While Ramirez hooked on with the Texas Rangers following his stint with the Rhinos in 2013, he failed to make it back to the majors. Ramirez spent three years coaching in theChicago Cubs’ organization, and played in an independent league in Japan in 2017.
Considering it’s been years since Ramirez has played, it’s unclear whether he has enough left in the tank to produce in the CPBL.
