Sabrina Ionescu Remembers Kobe: I Still Text Him Even Though He's Not Here

Sabrina Ionescu: “I still text him even though he’s not here. Thank you everything, the rest is for you. Rest easy my guy. The last one I sent him said ‘I miss you, may you rest in peace my dear friend.’ The texts go through, but no response. It still feels like he’s there on the other end and that the next time I picked up my phone he would have hit me back. Sometimes I find myself still waiting.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Oregon Ducks superstar Sabrina Ioescu’s touching tribute to the late great Kobe Bryant, as the legendary basketball hero was memorialized at the Staples Center on Monday in an emotionally charged commemoration that tried to brighten up one of the darkest moments in sports history.

Ionescu’s moving monologue described her friendship with the future Hall of Famer, as Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, had crossed paths with women’s college basketball’s most player a number of times at camps for young players.

Ionescu says she still texts Bryant, saying it still feels like he’s on the other end just waiting to finally respond back to her.

The senior guard is on pace to become the first player in women’s college basketball history to finish her career with 2,000+ points, 1,000+ assists, and 1,000+ rebounds.
