Nick Markakis Says Astros Players 'Need a Beating' For Cheating Scandal

Nick Markakis: “It angers you, especially from a guy who has played the game the right way his whole career. No shortcuts. I know how hard this game is, how hard it is to prepare for this game, and to see something like this is damaging to baseball. It’s anger. I feel like every single guy over there needs a beating. It’s wrong and they’re messing with people’s careers. I know we’re all competitive and we’re all out there competing, but there are right ways to do it and wrong ways to do it and I 100% disagree with the way they did it. There are a lot of people who were hurt by it and it was wrong... I think the commissioner completely handled this the wrong way... He should be embarrassed with himself.”

Listen to veteran Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis blast the Houston Astros for their dishonorable sign-stealing scandal that quickly became one of the biggest storylines in baseball history.

Markakis didn’t shy away from ripping the franchise who used egregious cheating in route to their 2017 World Series title, literally telling reporters that Astros players ‘need a beating.’

Markakis also took a shot at Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred for his handling of the Astros’ mild punishment, saying he should ‘be embarrassed with himself’ with the way the fallout unfolded.
