Phillies Have Acquired Catcher J.T. Realmuto From The Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired catcher J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins.

According to Jim Bowden, the Marlins have agreed to send Realmuto to the Phillies for catcher Jorge Alfaro, pitching prospects Sixto Sanchez and Will Stewart, and an international bonus slot.

Realmuto's name has come up all offseason long as he will become a free agent after the 2020 season. He is coming off his first All-Star selection last season after hitting .277/.340/.484 with a career-high 21 homers in 125 games. He has been linked to the Dodgers, Reds, and Padres before eventually landing with the Phillies today.

With Realmuto no longer available, the Dodgers will go into Spring Training with Russell Martin and Austin Barnes as their primary catchers for the 2019 season .
