Dodgers Officially Announce The Signing Of Pitcher Joe Kelly

The Dodgers officially announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly to a three-year contract.

Kelly’s specific guarantee is $27MM, tweets USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Kelly will receive a $3MM signing bonus and earn a $3MM salary in 2019. He’s also slated to earn $8.5MM in both 2020 and 2021, and his contract contains a $12MM option ($4MM buyout) for the 2022 season.

The California kid is coming off a year where he went 4-2 with two saves, a 4.39 ERA, 3.57 FIP and 1.36 WHIP over 73 appearances during the regular season. The Dodgers made it very clear that going into this offseason, they wanted to address the bullpen. Kelly is likely to be in a roll in the Dodgers’ bullpen where he will be handling the eighth inning where he will be coming up closer to Kenley Janen.
