Angels Are Interested In Catcher Yasmani Grandal

With catcher Wilson Ramos signing with the New York Mets and the asking price for J.T. Realmuto still high from the Marlins, we’re getting close to all the dominoes falling for catchers.

The biggest name right now is Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal and according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, he is reporting that the Angels are interested in signing him to a deal.

The Angels were one of the teams that were interested in signing  Ramos before he signed with the Mets yesterday. Despite Grandal’s postseason struggles, he has hit quite well in recent years. His best offensive season came just this past year, with him hitting .241/.349/.466 (121 OPS+) with 24 home runs in 140 games. Grandal's postseason wasn't ideal, but he remains an excellent defensive catcher overall.

Last month, Yasmani Grandal declined the Dodgers $17.9 million dollar qualifying offer became a free agent.
