The Oklahoma City Thunder and Carmelo Anthony will part ways before the start of next season, according to multiple reports.
Anthony's massive contract and frustrations about his role on the team are reportedly what led to the mutual decision.
Per USA Today:
Anthony's contract and his frustration with his role on the team last season have led to a mutual desire to separate at some point this summer.
Anthony opted into his contract with the Thunder late last month and is due to make roughly $28 million this season. The Thunder will look to either trade the 34-year-old or waive him and use the stretch provision, which would allow the team to spread out his payments over the next three years and save up to $94 million in taxes.
Lakers/Clippers fans: With the right contract, would you want this guy on your team?
