According to a recent report, high-ranking executives at FIFA are saying Morocco is the favorite to land the 2026 World Cup bid over the joint U.S.-Canada-Mexico effort.
Once seen as a slam dunk, the U.S teamed with its North American peers to host, with 60 of the 80 future games to be played on American soil.
The U.S. was home to the men's World Cup in 1994 (women's in 1999), while no North African country has ever hosted.
The men's team embarrassingly missed out on qualifying for this year's tournament after botching their final game to Trinidad and Tobago last year. 2018's tournament takes place this June in Russia.
